Breaking Down Silos in a Service Company
The request: Communication skills training for front-line managers who weren't collaborating across teams.
What we discovered: Three teams working from different locations had developed deep assumptions about each other—'sales always over-promises', 'technical never delivers on time', 'customer service doesn't care'. These beliefs, combined with no formal channel for cross-team communication and a stable-but-stagnant culture, meant no training could bridge the gap.
What we did: Multiple rounds of facilitated dialogue—first surfacing and examining assumptions, then clarifying shared vision and purpose, finally co-designing new ways of working together.
The shift: From blame and avoidance to genuine cross-team collaboration, with staff taking ownership of communication improvements rather than waiting for management to fix things.
